Policemen may have been late in realising the dictum but they have finally found a solution to improve their health in a modest way. They mobilised funds from their own pockets to set up a health club attached to the Police Club. North Zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) M. N. Krishnamurthy, who inaugurated the health club on Monday evening, said that the club would serve the purpose to improve the health of the 146 members, including officers from the rank of ASI to Superintendent of Police (SPs) in Kozhikode district. It has a home gym, a treadmill, an elliptical cycle, a bench press and an ab-king pro. " The cost to set up the club came up to Rs.1.70 lakhs. The proposal for the project was drawn up six months ago, " said City Police Commissioner H. Venkatesh, who is also the president of the Police Club. Generally policemen were found to be having a lot of lifestyle complaints like high blood pressure and cholesterol.
