Fantastic response to a `friendly' concept

The three-day multi-media training programme about the Friends of Police (FOP) concept, organised by the Tiruchi Police (Rural) in the city recently, evoked a good response from the public who came from various parts of the district to know about "community policing" and the vital role the FOPs could play in helping law enforcers check crimes.

Usually, the number of participating public and police personnel is fixed at 400 with 200 public and equal number of policemen. However, the strength of participating public exceeded 300 during the three-day programme.

The enthusiastic response from the public impressed the Project Coordinators of the Chennai-based Friends of Police Multi-Media Documentation and Training Centre who imparted the training.
