Bush's remarks assailed

PYONGYANG: The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has lashed out at U.S. President George W. Bush's remarks about ``freedom'' and ``democracy'' and refuted his accusations against it. In a commentary, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) dismissed as ``rubbish'' Mr. Bush's talk about promoting ``American-style liberal democracy'' in Asia during his recent tour to Japan and South Korea. Angered by Mr. Bush calling the DPRK ``a dark country,'' the KCNA described his repeated talks about ``freedom'' and ``democracy'' as ``a revelation of fascist hysteria. The United States is the world's worst human rights abuser as it has cruelly trampled down upon other countries' freedom and democracy.'' Mr. Bush, in a speech delivered in Japan last week, said the DPRK was ``a country that at night is clothed in almost complete darkness.'' — Xinhua
