NEW DELHI: Indian Airlines and Reliance Infocomm on Tuesday came together to offer India's first mobile booking of a domestic airline ticket. Air travellers who are also users of Reliance India Mobile (RIM) can now book their IA domestic tickets any time and from anywhere on their mobile phones. Addressing a press conference here, Navneet Saluja, CEO of the Delhi circle of Reliance Infocomm, said the service would be available to users at a monthly charge of Rs. 25 or Rs. 3 for a day. "We are beginning with domestic tickets but would look at international sectors at a later date," Anil Goyal, Commercial Director of Indian Airlines, said. The new facility would expand the reach of the carrier. To begin with, bookings will be available against full fare and easy fare options. A Reliance mobile user has to enter the origin and destination points, as well as the date of travel. Full and discounted fares in economy and executive classes are displayed on the phone. The user then has to select the fare and payment mode and book the ticket. The PNR is displayed on the mobile screen and the ticket can be collected at the airport or an Indian Airlines office producing the PNR and photo identification. The facility has been launched on R World, the data application suite of RIM.
