Rain in Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Yesterday's depression over Southwest Bay of Bangal moved westwards and crossed Srilanka and now lies at 0830 hours IST of 22nd November at about 100 Kilometres eastsoutheast of Pamban. It is likely to move in a westerly direction and cross South Tamil Nadu coast between Tondi and Tuticorin by today afternoon. Under its influence northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu. Rainfall occurred at many places over Tamil Nadu and at a few places over Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Kerala. Mainly dry weather prevailed over North interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Telangana, coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep. The following stations recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall in Centimetres: Parangipettai 22, Chidambaram (Cuddalore dt) 13, Cheyyur (Kanchipuram dt) 11, Vedaranyam 10, Cuddalore, Aranthangi and Tirumayam (both Pudukottai dt), Chengalpattu (Kanchipuram dt) and Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt) 9 each, Tambaram, Tiruvallur, Orthanadu (Thanjavur dt), Thanjavur, Sirkali (Nagapattinam dt) and Muthupet(Thiruvarur dt) 8 each and Chennai Airport, Chembarambakkam (Thiruvallur dt), Srimushnam (Cuddalore dt), Vanur and Gingee (both Villupuram dt.), Pattukottai (Thanjavur dt), Nannilam (Tiruvarur dt) and Manamelkudi 7 each. Ramagundam and Nizamabad recorded lowest minimum temperature of 13{+o}C in the plains of the region.
Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Telangana, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and north interior Karnataka.
