TIRUVANNAMALAI: A medical team will function round the clock in the Arunachaleswara temple here on December 13 for the benefit of devotees visiting the temple for the Karthigai Deepam festival. At a meeting held here recently to discuss the arrangements, Collector Sathyabrata Sahoo called upon Health Department officials and the government hospital here to provide round-the-clock medical facilities. He also directed the authorities to deploy an adequate number of mobile medical teams and operate an emergency ward in the hospital. The meeting decided to request the Railways to operate special trains from important towns to Tiruvannamalai and add more coaches to the trains. The railway station was asked to keep the premises clean and ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the devotees. The Collector requested the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation to operate special buses to Tiruvannamalai. The Tiruvannamalai municipality would arrange for supply of purified drinking water to the devotees and toilet facilities in different parts of the town. It would also set up temporary bus stands and arrange for immunisation of the devotees, anti-mosquito operations and spraying of disinfectants around hotels. The police department was requested to take adequate security measures. The Department of Fire and Rescue Services was requested to station fire engines in more places. The Highways Department was asked to repair roads, especially those where the temple car was to be drawn.
