IFA Shield from tomorrow

KOLKATA: The IFA Challenge Shield football tournament gets underway here from Thursday. The German giant Bayern Munich will take part in the tournament and radio microphone for the referee will be introduced for the first time. These two factors apart, the tournament will remain the regular clash of the big names from the city — Kingfisher East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting and Ever Ready Association. The only outstation national outfit in the fixture is JCT Mills, which was drafted in after the invitation to Malaysian club Perlis did not materialise.
