NEW DELHI: D. Harika drew with eventual champion Germany's Elisabeth Paehtz to tie for the third spot with two others in the World junior chess championship in Istanbul on Tuesday. Harika who shared the second spot after her 12th round victory over Georgia's Maka Purtselade, finished with nine points, behind Elisabeth (10) and China's Gu Xiaobing (9.5). Later, Azerbaijan's Turkan Mamdjarova and Poland's Beata Kadziolka won their matches to match Harika's tally. Harika now awaits the tiebreak scores to know whether the bronze medal comes her way. In the boys' section, Azerbaijan's Shakhriyar Mamedyarov tallied 10.5 points to regain the title won in 2003. With this superlative performance, Mamedyarov became the first two-time winner of the event.
