Injured Samuels heads home
Sydney
: The West Indies' luckless tour of Australia suffered another blow on Tuesday when batsman Marlon Samuels flew home suffering a knee injury.
Samuel's departure further depletes the West Indies' misfiring batting line-up ahead of the third and final Test against Australia in Adelaide beginning on Friday.
Samuels, 24, suffered the knee injury when he was hit by a delivery from Australian paceman Brett Lee in the first innings of the second Test in Hobart. Doctors had told him he had no chance of recovering in time for the Adelaide Test and it was best he return to Jamaica to recuperate.
Team physiotherapist Stephen Partridge said he was encouraged by the fact that a scan had showed no new damage to Samuels' knee. AFP
