Kushboo row: CPI (M) joins issue with PMK
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), N. Varadarajan, on Tuesday said though actress Kushboo's views on premarital sex could be countered, democratic means should be adopted while staging protests.
Joining issue with Pattali Makkal Katchi president G.K. Mani, who had wondered if there was anything wrong in showing black flags and raising slogans to oppose her views, Mr. Varadarajan said the CPI (M) did not condemn the democratic practice of staging demonstrations. But the way adopted to protest Kushboo's remarks was publicised in the electronic and print media. "Does Mr. Mani think that throwing footwear and waving broomsticks in the name of protest are correct methods?"
