NEW DELHI: Despite the Metro railway being the pride of the Capital city, the Delhi Government has for the past five months been sitting over a file pertaining to grant of 200 square yards of land belonging to the Indraprastha Thermal Power Station to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for construction of a circulation area for the Indraprastha Metro Station. Though any further delay could jeopardise timely completion of the vital line, due to become operational in March 2006, the approval has been pending with the Power Department for nearly six months now. The matter has got DMRC really bothered. Some time back it even sent a reminder to the Power Department seeking an early decision on the same. As there was no response from the Power Department even after the reminder, the DMRC has now sought a meeting with Delhi Chief Secretary S. Regunathan, who is also the Principal Secretary (Power). A senior official said despite delay in handing over this plot of land by the Power Department of the Delhi Government and the delay by the Railway Ministry in allowing DMRC the right to go over the railway tracks near Tilak Bridge, the 2.81 km section of Line III from Barakhamba to Indraprastha was still on target to meet the March 2006 deadline. "We are working hard towards achieving the target and hopefully the line would be completed by March-end," the official said.
