Ponomariov beats Fritz

Bilbao (Spain): Putting up a vastly improved performance, former FIDE champion Ruslan Ponomariov tamed Fritz, while Alexander Khalifman and Rustam Kasimdzhanov drew their games with Junior and Hydra respectively in the second round of the second World chess championship of men versus machines here.

The overall score now stands 4-2 after two rounds in computer programmes' favour.

Earlier in the first round, Ponomariov had been outwitted by Junior, Kasimdzhanov went down to Hydra while Khalifman surrendered to Fritz. — UNI
