Kakinada: There is every need for improving educational standards to withstand the competition in the backdrop of globalisation, according to L.Venugopala Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University. Participating as the chief guest at the seminar on `Curriculum reforms in undergraduate courses 'organised in the Ideal College here on Monday, he said the educational standard required improvement to suit international requirements. Since ten plus two plus four system is in vogue in foreign Universities, the degree course was proposed to be increased to four years here too, he said. He said that changes in the system would be successful only when teachers responded positively.
On semester system
Stating that the semester system required continuous efforts on the part of students, Dr Reddy said from next year the first year degree students would have annual exams and the semester system would be implemented from the second year. Dr P Chiranjivini Kumari, Ideal College Correspondent, welcomed the semester system and said that the on the job training should form part of the four year degree course. N.
