Brazil will live up to expectations: Leonardo

MUMBAI: Leonardo, member of 1994 and 1998 Brazil World Cup squads, pointed out that Brazil would live up to the favourite tag in 2006 World Cup.

"Brazil has amazing set of players, Adriano, Kaka, Robinho and Ronaldinho, to name a few. Performance as a team will depend on how these emerging talents are managed," said Leonardo.

Leonardo is in Mumbai as AC Milan ambassador, touring India with the club's under-18 side as part of Festa Italiana -2005.

He scored twice in an exhibition match between AC Milan junior squad and Mumbai celebrities at Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday, the tourists winning 7-1.

The Italian juniors will play Bengal XI in Kolkata on Wednesday then take on India U-20 at Bombay Gymkhana on Nov. 26. The tour is organised by Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce.

"We look forward to igniting interest in football in India," said Laura Massi, AC Milan's Marketing Director. Narinder Nayar and Dr. Andrea Bonardi, Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's President and Secretary-General respectively, were also present. — Special Correspondent
