Krushi bank chairman held in Bangkok?

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The State police are trying to verify reports that the Interpol has arrested Krushi Bank Chairman Venkateswar Rao in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Mr. Rao is wanted by the Crime Investigation Department in connection with Krushi bank scam.

He had been absconding for the past three years.

The Interpol had issued a red-corner notice for Rao.

For affecting his arrest, the Interpol would have to issue a notice to the wanted person and subsequently can take him into custody after the local courts accord permission.

Sources say that Rao was found to be living in Bangkok.

The official confirmation of the arrest can only be given by either by the Indian ambassador in Thailand or the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, there were reports of Rao's wife arriving in the city and the police are trying to verify.
