COIMBATORE: The All Bharat Confederation of Senior Citizens and Pensioners has accused the Directorate of Elementary Education of not implementing the Government's Order with regard to pension distribution. In a press statement, the Confederation said that the State Government recently issued an order mandating completion of formalities for 3,713 pensioners. Forty per cent of their 27 months' salary was supposed to be issued as Postal Savings Certificates by October 18. But the Coimbatore district administration implemented the order only for a few persons, leaving about 3,500 in the lurch. The behaviour of the Elementary Education Officer only added to their woes, the pensioners complained.
To stage protests
The Officer "avoided" the pensioners' grievances day, they alleged. To protest against the attitude of the district administration, the Confederation, along with Tamil Nadu Teachers' Federation, would stage a protest at Annur on November 23, and in Coimbatore on November 25.
