Pondicherry: Local Administration Minister A. Elumalai on Wednesday announced that the daily wages of workers in the municipalities and commune panchayats in the Union Territory had been revised and the new wage structure would be implemented retrospectively from July 23, 2004. He told newsmen here on Wednesday that the wage hike would cover three categories of workers. Those who had received wages at Rs. 110 per day between July 23 and December 31, 2004 would be paid Rs. 145, while those who were paid Rs. 145 for a day of work between January 1 and June 30, 2005 would be paid of Rs. 149 and those who were paid daily wage of Rs. 149 from July this year would be paid Rs. 154 per day.
