`BJP ignoring the aspirations of cadres'

Staff Reporter

Sale of votes to UDF led to rout: DYFI

ALAPPUZHA: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State secretary A. Pradeep Kumar on Wednesday said the drastic fall in the vote share of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Thiruvanamthapuram Lok Sabha byelection was the result of "outright opportunistic sale of party votes by BJP leaders to the UDF."

At a press conference here, Mr. Pradeep Kumar said the sale of votes "like any other commodity" proved that the BJP leadership did not respect the identity and aspirations of the party cadres.

He said the State had been witnessing the sale of party votes by BJP leaders since 1991.

Mr. Pradeep Kumar said the BJP was indulging in unethical practices owing to the peculiarity of the fascist ideology it was pursuing.

The BJP had become a peculiar phenomenon in State politics by its vote sale and the party cadres should react against such unethical practices of the party leadership, he said.

Call to join DYFI

He called upon the youth in the BJP to quit the party. He said the BJP workers should resign from the party and join the DYFI and CPI (M).

Mr. Pradeep Kumar said the DYFI would organise meetings at various places in the State to welcome those who resign from the Bharatiya Janata Party and join the DYFI.
