Owner of vehicle used by killers traced

Staff Correspondent

BELLARY: The vehicle (Mahindra Bolero) used by the killers of Bheemaneni Kondaiah, President of the Bellary district unit of the Janata Dal (S), and a cellphone found near the crime scene belong to M. Jayachandra of Hospet.

Pankaj Kumar Thakur, Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu here on Wednesday that the vehicle belonged to Jayachandra, a cousin of Suryanarayan, who was shot dead in Hospet in 2003. There was rivalry between the groups led by Kondaiah and Suryanarayan. However, it was found that Kondaiah's group was not involved in Suryanarayan's killing. A couple of months ago, a cousin of Suryanarayan was murdered on Kuditini-Daroji Road. Kondaiah's brother is an accused.
