ANANTAPUR: Five persons were killed and seven others were injured in two accidents on NH-7 near Rapthadu, about 10 km from here, on Tuesday night. The injured were admitted to the General Hospital here. According to the police, a family of Bukkacherla village in Rapthadu mandal was returning home after visiting a temple near Nasanakota village in Ramagiri mandal in their newly purchased seven-seat autorickshaw. When the seven-seater was travelling near the bridge across Pandameru stream an unidentified lorry collided with it killing three persons on the spot. Those killed were identified as T. Ratnabai (45) of Maruthinagar in Anantapur, Nallapa Reddy (33) and Somasekhar (30) of Bukkacherla. Mallikarjuna (40), also of Bukkacherla, succumbed to the injuries at the hospital. Six others travelling in the seven-seater were injured. In the other accident, also near the first one, two persons riding a motor-cycle hit a stationery lorry. One Suresh (25) of Domalguda in Hyderabad was killed on the spot and his pillion rider was injured.
Seven injured
Seven persons were injured near Pamurayi village in Anantapur rural mandal on Tuesday night when a four-wheeler was hit by a lorry coming in the opposite direction. A girl riding a bicycle was injured in the old town here, when she was hit by a lorry in Gandhi Bazar area.
