CBI registers cases against officials

NEW DELHI:
A day after conducting surprise checks, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday registered four cases against senior officials of the port, inland container depots and public sector coal companies relating to corruption and disproportionate assets.
Those booked by the CBI include an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 1998 batch, posted at the Container Freight Station at Muland, an Executive Engineer, Chennai Port Trust and his father-in-law on allegations of corruption in the award of a contract worth Rs. 33 lakhs to a fictitious firm and a Harbour Master also of Chennai Port Trust.
