Warne expects to be fit despite missing training

MELBOURNE : Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne expects to be fit for this week's third Test against West Indies, despite experiencing back problems during the second Test in Hobart and sitting out of training on Wednesday.

``I'll be fine, it's just a little bit stiff, hopefully it should be okay,'' he told reporters in Adelaide, where the Test starts on Friday. ``I just had a bit of treatment this morning. It hurt a little bit before the last Test match but I think I bowled 50-odd overs in the last match. I'm sure it will be okay.''

Warne said he was hopeful of taking part in Thursday's training session. ``I should be fine, it's just a little bit stiff, it's as simple as that,'' he said.

Australia has already secured the three-match series after winning the first Test in Brisbane by 379 runs and the second in Hobart by nine wickets.

The Adelaide pitch is expected to suit spin, with Warne expected to be partnered by Stuart MacGill in a dual leg-spin attack as Australia attempt a series whitewash.

Justin Langer, who missed the first two Tests with a broken rib, is likely to resume his successful opening partnership with Matthew Hayden, with Mike Hussey moving down the order to replace the dropped Michael Clarke.

If Australia chooses to take two spinners into the match, left-arm swing bowler Nathan Bracken or all-rounder Andrew Symonds will be 12th man. — Reuters
