Cricket for the cause of underprivileged children

Special Correspondent

  • Cadence Corporate Cricket Challenge to be held for sixth year in succession
  • Over 8,500 children empowered through funds raised by the event

Bangalore: Participating in this corporate cricket tournament could help many underprivileged children.

To mobilise the corporate fraternity for the cause of child rights in India, Child Relief and You (CRY) is partnering with Cadence Design Systems for the sixth year in succession. The CRY Cadence Corporate Cricket Challenge will be Cricket for a Cause series: one that ensures children the right to education, healthcare and to protection from abuse and exploitation. In short, to a childhood.

Former Miss India Rani Jeyaraj and Himanshu Singh of CRY will inaugurate the series at the inaugural match in Bangalore on November 26 at the NRA Grounds, Jayamahal Road.

This year, some of the teams that have confirmed participation, apart from Cadence itself, are Praxair India, Reliance Infocomm, HSBC Group Service Centre, ANZ Information Technology, Mphasis, Hutch India, Accenture, Madura Garments, SAP India, Philips Software Centre, TNT India and Yantra.

Ingrid Srinath, Chief Executive, CRY, says: "The partnership with Cadence is valuable to CRY because it goes beyond conventional corporate sponsorship of charity events. The team at Cadence brings personal commitment and passion to every stage of conceptualising, planning and executing the event year after year. Their efforts have enabled over 60 corporates across three cities further child rights while building social networks and engaging in one of their favourite activities-playing cricket''.

The tournament is organised around the motto that each one of us can make a difference; till date over 8,500 children have been empowered through funds raised by the cricket event.
