The Mayor presented scholarships to meritorious students of BMP schools, who have passed out this year.

Ten toppers were given cheques of Rs. 10,000 each.

Later, the Mayor told presspersons that there is no delay in the disbursement of scholarships to meritorious students and aid to mentally challenged students.

Pointing out that the BMP had taken up repair of roads that have been damaged during the recent rains on war footing, the Mayor said work had slowed down because of rains in the last two days.

The Mayor said the State Government had released Rs. 30 crores to the BMP for taking up emergency flood relief work in the city.

"We will resume work once the rain stops and all damaged roads will be repaired at a cost of Rs. 120 crores," he added. Deputy Mayor N. Shantakumari, Opposition Leader in the BMP Council B.R. Nanjundappa, and BJP Floor Leader B.M. Mangala were present.
