BANGALORE: The Ulsoor police have registered a case of kidnap against the Bharathinagar MLA Nirmal Kumar Surana and six others on a complaint by Anthony Swamy. The police said Anthony Swamy had allegedly taken Rs. 12 lakhs from Col. R.K. Mishra promising a medical seat for his son. A few days ago, Col. Mishra filed a complaint with the police alleging that Swamy has cheated him by not getting a seat for his son as promised. Later, Col. Mishra approached Mr. Surana and sought his help in getting back the money from Swamy. According to the complaint lodged by Swamy, Mr. Surana, Col. Mishra and five others allegedly kidnapped him and forced him to pay Rs. 5 lakhs. On Swamy's complaint, the Ulsoor police have registered a case of kidnap against Mr. Surana, Col. Mishra, Surendra Kumar Mishra, L.K. Mishra, and Nagaraj. Mr. Surana told The Hindu that after Col. Mishra sought his help in getting back the money, he called Swamy and "amicably settled" the matter. Swamy paid Rs. 5 lakhs and agreed to repay the remaining amount on the "understanding that Col. Mishra will not pursue the case against him," Mr. Surana said.
