Singapore Education expands network


CLOSE ON the heels of a five-city road show in the country last month, the Singapore Education (SE) Initiative has expanded its specialists network. Thirty-two new specialists have been certified and added to the existing group of 11.

The SE Specialists programme is designed to enhance information assistance to international students planning to study in Singapore. Through this network, potential students can avail themselves of relocation assistance as well as counselling services on various education products in Singapore.

To be selected and qualified as SE Specialists, education agents have to undertake comprehensive theoretical training on accredited courses and programmes available in Singapore, admission policies and processes for international students as well as information on supporting infrastructure such as accommodation and financing aid.

Talk on medicinal physics

The St. Joseph's College of Business Administration, as part of its decennial celebrations, had a talk by S. Narasinga Rao, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Central Oklahoma, on "Biological physics and medicinal physics" on Wednesday.

In his lecture, Dr. Rao stressed the importance of Physics and Medical Biology and their links to business. He outlined various discoveries in Medical Physics, which eventually won Nobel prizes.

He stressed the need for a blend of biological sciences and business. There was a trend of multi-disciplinary approach of both Medicinal Physics and Business Management through collaboration and cooperation, he said.

The Director of St. Joseph's College of Business Administration, Fr. Aveline D'Souza welcomed the gathering.

Corporate quiz

As part of its management fest, "USHUS 2005," the Christ College Institute of Management has arranged a corporate quiz called "Inquest" on November 26. Twenty-five teams have registered for the event to be anchored by Raj Dam of Niche Minds.

A team consisting of two members can participate in the quiz. Interested participants can form cross-corporate teams wherein the team members can be from different companies. For registrations, call Prof. Sharon Andrew, Event Coordinator, on ph: 25526166.
