Letters to the Editor
The fact that a few remarks by actor Kushboo would snowball into a huge controversy was predictable. In traditional societies like ours, the group is supreme. An individual can come to grief if he or she rocks a group. Personally I neither justify nor oppose Ms. Kushboo's views on pre-marital sex. As an individual she is free to express her views. No one has the right to punish her for doing so.
P. Isaac Prabhakar,
We Indians have proved again that we are a set of intolerant people who cannot let a person speak his or her mind. We will continue to harp on our tradition of tolerance but will not follow it.
Shadaan Alam,
