LONDON: Defending champion Liverpool, Chelsea and Inter Milan reached the knockout stage of the Champions League on Wednesday, joining seven other teams that have already qualified. Liverpool guaranteed itself one of the top two places in Group G with a 0-0 draw at Anfield against Spanish club Real Betis. Group rival Chelsea also advanced, winning 2-0 at Anderlecht with goals from Hernan Crespo and Ricardo Carvalho. Inter Milan clinched the top place in Group H, beating Artmedia Bratislava 4-0 behind three goals from Brazil forward Adriano and another from Luis Figo. Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko scored all four goals in AC Milan's 4-0 victory at Fenerbahce. However, the victory was not enough to advance AC Milan last season's losing finalist from a tight Group E. In Group F, where Lyon and Real Madrid have already advanced, the two teams drew 1-1 in the Spanish capital. Guti scored in the 41st for Madrid, and John Carew equalised in the 72nd. Lyon leads the group with 13 points while Madrid has 10. The results: Anderlecht lost to Chelsea 0-2; FC Porto drew with Rangers 1-1; Fenerbahce lost to AC Milan 0-4; Inter Milan bt Artmedia Bratislava 4-0; Liverpool drew with Real Betis 0-0; Real Madrid drew with Lyon 1-1; Rosenborg drew with Olympiacos 1-1; Schalke 04 bt PSV 3-0.
