Officials inspect site for proposed Energy Park

Union Ministry for Non Conventional Energy to grant Rs.1 crore

Pondicherry: A two-member team of experts comprising the Special Secretary, Renewable Energy Development Agency, Kokata, S. Gonchaudhry and the Director of the Department of non-Conventional Energy Ministry, P.M.L. Garg, held discussions with the Local Administration Minister, A. Elumalai recently and also visited some of the sites proposed for the Rs 1.5 crore Energy park planned for Pondicherry.

Mr. P.Mathew Samuel the Project Director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) here said that the Union Ministry for Non Conventional Energy would grant Rs.1 crore for the proposed park while Pondicherry Administration would spend Rs 50 lakhs.

He said that the official of the Renewable Energy Development Agency would prepare the project report for the energy park here.

The team also held discussions with the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on the project.

The report would be available during the second week of December for follow up action.

It would be sent to the Centre for formal approval by the end of December.

A release from the office of Local Administration Minister said on Tuesday that the Administration expected that the Centre's nod would be available in January 2006 and work on the project would commence without loss of time.
