THRISSUR: The Taluk Legal Services Committee of Thrissur have directed the authorities concerned to take action for controlling the spread of diseases through blood. A Bench of the committee, headed by the Additional Munsiff of Thrissur, K.P. Sunitha, gave this order while disposing of a petition filed by the social activist P.D. Joseph, alleging that the authorities are not conducting proper tests while receiving blood in blood banks. The Superintendent of Thrissur Medical College, the District Collector and Chairman of the hospital development committee as well as the Health Secretary submitted before the committee that used syringes and needles were being destroyed and required tests conducted on samples of blood donated to blood banks.
