NEW DELHI: India won the fifth USIC World Railways badminton championship, beating Russia and Poland in its super league matches at the Siri Fort indoor stadium here on Thursday. Expectedly, the India-Russia contest in the morning session turned out to be the decisive battle in the championship race in the three-team pool `A'. The home team won 7-4 over the defending champion to all but make sure of the championship. The 11-0 rout of Poland in the afternoon session that sealed the title, turned out to be a mere formality. The Russia-Poland tie on the final day on Friday will decide the silver winner.
