KLEC emerges winner

VIJAYAWADA: Koneru Lakshmaiah Engineering College emerged winners of Acharya Nararjuna University inter-collegiate tournament defeating P.B. Siddhartha Arts and Science College by 10 runs in the final. V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College finished third as CSR Sarma College, Ongole, conceded the match.

The scores: KLEC 153 in 34.5 overs (Paneesh 49) bt P.B. Siddhartha Arts and Science College 143 (Koteswara Rao four for 26, Suresh four for 30).

District Open chess

Krishna District Chess Association will conduct a district open championship from November 25 to 26 at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, said association secretary Srihari here on Thursday. Interested should contact 94401 19775 for details. The prize money of this tournament is Rs 4,000.

NU Cricket selections

The trials to select Acharya Nagarjuna University's cricket team will be held at Andhra Loyola College grounds from November 25 to 27, said Fr. Dr. S. Emmanuel, principal and chairman, ANU inter-zonal cricket tournament 2005-2006 here on Thursday. Players should report to the organising secretary J.V.N. Prasad at the venue along with their identity cards and eligibility forms in triplicate.

Teams for School Games

The Krishna District teams for u-19 State School Games cricket tournament was selected here on Thursday. The tourney for boys would be held at Anantapur from December 15 to 17 and Vijayawada would host for girls from December 4 to 6, said School Games Association secretary Ch. Poornachandra Rao.

The teams:

Boys: Md. Imran, R. Krishna, E. Sandeep, A. Karthik, Md. Irfan, T. Naidu, Vegesh, J. Simhachalam, G. Charan, V. Gopi, B. Gurumurthy, I. Ram Mohan, N. Kiran, D. Mahesh and Teja.

Girls: P. Parameswari, K. Ramya Krishna, G. Neeraja Devi, T Simhachalam, P. Nagamani, K. Rajitha, K. Ranjani, C. Keerthi, Ch. Kumari, S. Naga Mallika, J. Divya, G. Naina, Nagakanya, S. Swarna.

Chess tournament

The Steel City Chess Academy in Visakhapatnam is organising a district Open prize money tournament at the Visakhapatam Club (Town Hall) from Nov. 25 to Dec. 2. Entries close at 2 p.m. on Friday.
