Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Tambaram, Sembium, MKB Nagar, Puzhal, Pondeswaram, Porur, Ayapakkam, Flower Bazaar, Park Town, Dasarathapuram and Anna Nagar on November 26 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Envoy visits Madras Medical Mission

High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa Francis Molio visited Madras Medical Mission on Wednesday to meet Veneranda Arusha Guyuze, a Tanzanian child who was recently operated upon at the hospital as its 25,000th cardiac patient. The Government of South Africa is looking at avenues of collaboration with MMM. Recently the Minister of Communication, Government of South Africa Radhakrishna Padayachi also visited the hospital.

School anniversary

Crescent Matriculation HSS for Girls, Nungambakkam, celebrated their 30th anniversary with an inter-school competition ``The Talent Tree".

Competitions included oratory, vegetable carving and art.

Actors workshop

The British Council and Madras Players invite participants to the Actors Workshop by Gareth Armstrong from the UK to be held from December 6-19. The workshop will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will close with a presentation on December 20. The workshop fee is Rs 1,500. Students will be given a concession. Actors above 18 years with musical skills and physical prowess will be eligible. Experience in a recent major production will be a plus. Application forms available at BC or at www.britishcouncil.org.in/arts. The last date for applications is November 28.

New computer course

Trip to Baba Gurukulam

Vel's Vidyashram principal along with teachers and students visited the Baba Gurukulam at Pozhichalur and Kamarajar Illam at Tambaram recently. They distributed rice, clothes and eatables amongst the residents. The trip was to create social awareness among the students.
