HYDERABAD: A variety of natural resources and indigenous products will be on display at the `Swadeshi Mela' to be organised at Keshav Memorial High School, Narayanaguda from Saturday. The week-long mela being organised under the aegis of Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development (CBMD), a unit of Swadeshi Jagaran Foundation, would highlight the achievement and capabilities of artisans, native industry and trade in the wake of globalisation and socio-economic imbalances. Giving details, Swadeshi Mela convenor and State BJP general secretary K. Laxman told media persons here on Thursday that in the face of domination of multi-national companies' products to the detriment of rural economy and artisans, the mela would create awareness about innovative and quality products from small and cottage enterprises and instil `Swadeshi thought'. The CBMD organised 77 exhibitions so far across the country in the last six years with the vision of self-reliance. Artisans and exhibitors from several states would exhibit their products and skills in 150 stalls. Cultural programmes, seminars on micro-level enterprise, micro-level credit programme, bio-diesel etc., would also mark the mela to conclude on December 2.
Competitions
The Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development will organise various competitions for school and college students as part of Swadeshi Mela. Competitions in yoga, painting and elocution will be held from 9 a.m. on November 27 while rangoli and singing events will be held from 3 p.m. on November 28 on Keshav Memorial School campus. The theme for elocution is `Impact of TV on Students.' Details can be had on Ph.No.9849620830 or 27408224.
