Bangalore: Soon, you may be able to buy unreserved tickets at the City Railway Station by swiping your credit or debit card. The South Western Railway is in talks with banks and hopes to begin trials on its proposal. "The system could be in place in 10 to 15 days," said Bangalore Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Kumar. Mr. Mahesh Kumar told The Hindu that talks were on with most of the banks and the response has been positive. This was being planned in order to avoid overcrowding at the unreserved ticket counters. People come only a little before the departure of trains and are forced to wait in queue for long in separate counters meant for unreserved tickets. Mr. Mahesh Kumar said five to 10 kiosks may be put in a row at the City Railway Station to begin with. If it works, it could be quickly extended to other railway stations in the city. In the long run, it can even be extended to the teller machines of banks where the railways would have to install its kiosks. The sources said the possibility of passengers using these kiosks for cancellation of their tickets is being explored.
