WARANGAL: Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah exhorted teachers and research scholars to preserve the rich culture and heritage and hand over the same to next generation. Inaugurating the three-day Tribal and Folklore festival here at the School of Tribal and Folklore studies, Telugu University, Mr. Lakshmaiah advised the academics to document the contemporary history for the benefit of the future generations. He appreciated the efforts made by the Telugu University in preserving the age-old traditions, customs and rituals, life and history of rural folk through compact discs and books. At the festival, some 45 people from different corners of the district would display their native skills in pottery, wood carving and other vocations. Kannada University Vice-Chancellor B. A. Vivek Roy, former Vice-Chancellor of Telugu University Pervaram Jagannadham, Vice-Chancellor A. Manjulatha and others were present.
