The following are the rates (per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market, according a release by The Vijayawada Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Friday. Groundnut oil Rs 50.50; palmolein oil Rs 39.50, Sunflower oil Rs 49, tamarind (flower variety) Rs 21 to 27, tamarind (Karipuli Variety) Rs 42 to Rs 48, Chillies: a/c Rs 25 to Rs 30, non-a/c Rs 10 to Rs 15, rice 2716 Rs 13, rice superfine Rs 15, rice Sona massori Rs 15 to 17, blackgram (pottu minapappu) Rs 36, redgram (Kandipappu) Desavali Rs 23, Pandiripalem Rs 25.50. Contest on eco protection

The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board and Gora Science Centre are jointly organising an essay, drawing and painting competitions on "The necessity of environment protection" at Atheist Centre in Benz Circle on Wednesday. In connection with "anti-pollution day," the competitions are conducted for the college, school students. G. Niyanta, Director, Gora Science Centre, appealed to all students to participate in the programme.
