Singvi new A.P. Chief Justice

New Delhi: The President has appointed Ganpat Singh Singvi, judge of the Gujarat High Court, as the new Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court.

Justice Singvi (57) hails from Rajasthan and has practised mainly in the High Court in constitutional matters. He also practised on the Central Administrative Tribunal. He was appointed additional judge of the Rajasthan High Court on July 20, 1990 and made permanent judge on October 21, 1991.

Mr. Justice Singvi was transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court on April 28, 1994. He came into the limelight last year when 25 judges went on mass casual leave.
