PUDUKOTTAI: The Fisheries Minister, M. Radhakrishnan, accompanied by the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department Secretary, Vishwanath Shegaonkar, and the Collector, P. Sonai, visited various flood-affected areas in the district on Saturday. They visited Kadayakudi, where work was underway to plug the breach in a channel. They also visited the Arimalam panchayat union primary school and other places where residents of Kothamangalam, Nagarathinam and Narthamangalam and other areas had been accommodated following the floods. At Duraivayal they looked at submerged crops. The Minister instructed the officials to repair the damaged Arimalam-Alangudi Road. They also inspected the relief work being carried out in Thiruvarangulam panchayat union.
Thanjavur
The Union Minister of State for Finance, S.S. Palani Manickam, visited flood-affected areas around the Grand Anaicut in Thanjavur on Saturday. He said there should be no politics in providing relief to the people. Relief should be given on a humanitarian basis to all the affected.
