HYDERABAD: Work for the first modern foot-overbridge (FOB) at Begumpet near the Hyderabad Public School began on Saturday. t is the first among the eight FOBs, which the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad has auctioned to private parties on a `Build, Operate and Transfer' (BOT) basis. Auction for FOBs and other infrastructure works were successfully bid in September when MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju initiated the first ever-open-bids-cum-auction under the `Fund Your City' scheme. Shewtha Industries had bid for this FOB and has got the rights for three years and one quarter at a cost of Rs. 65.7 lakhs. Additional Commissioner of Traffic & Transportation, N.V.S. Reddy, said the FOB wold be erected within a month and a half. The frame would be built elsewhere and brought to the site for erection overnight without causing any traffic disruption. Other FOBs are to come up at Abids (St. George's Grammar School), Nampally (near railway station), Madina, Dilsukhnagar, Rasoolpura, Ameerpet junction and Mehdipatnam crossroads at a total estimated cost of Rs. 4.7 crores.
