IA to operate

special flight

TIRUCHI : The Indian Airlines will operate a special flight from Tiruchi to Chennai on Sunday morning to cater for stranded passengers following disruption of road and rail links owing to the floods.

IC 974 Muscat-Cochin-Chennai flight will be diverted via Tiruchi, according to the Area Marketing Manager, Indian Airlines, T. H. Radhakrishnan. The flight will arrive at Tiruchi at 6-30 a.m. and leave for Chennai at 7-10 a.m.

Orientation

programme

Oracle Nursery and Primary School, Puthanatham, conducted an orientation programme for its staff on a few innovative teaching practices to increase the level of learning and active participation of the students.

Senior lecturer from the District Institute for Education and Training, Kumulur, S. Jamsheed Mohaideen, introduced a few teaching techniques such as the use of good body language, clay exercises to improve eye-hand-mind coordination, and gave students small projects to do on their own. He also suggested a change in the learning style, based on school environment and classroom expectations and urged teachers to show an interest and involvement in their respective subjects. Students could contribute to social development through academic and extra-curricular activities, he pointed out. Principal P. Vasuki spoke.

College to reopen on December 1

Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College will re-open on December 1 due to suspension of transport from various parts of the city, instead of on Nov. 28 as intimated earlier, Principal, K. Shenbagavalli said in a press release.

Convocation

postponed

The convocation programme of Jamal Mohamed College, scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed to Dec.11, owing to traffic disruption, Principal, M. Sheik Mohamed, said in a release issued here on Saturday.

Due to the flooding of the college campus, Bishop Heber College will re-open on December 5), Principal, Marcus Diepen Boominathan has said in a release.

Phone bill date extended

The pay-by-date bill dated November 6 of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has been extended from November 26 to December 2 owing to heavy rains and floods, the Principal General Manager of the Tiruchi district, S. Ramalingam, said in a release.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur dam stood at 120.15 feet on Saturday. The inflow was 18,384 cusecs and the outflow 19,141 cusecs. — Staff Reporter.
