KARIMNAGAR: The Karimnagar rural police have solved the case of murder of an unidentified person, whose body was found on the outskirts of Bommakal village of Karimnagar mandal, with the arrest of his paramour and four others. Announcing this to newspersons on Monday, Karimnagar rural CI P. Venugopal Rao said the deceased, G. Srinivas (36) of Peddapalli town was found murdered, with his body bearing burn injuries and strangulation marks, on November 7. The rural police registered a case of unidentified dead body. After seeing pictures in the local media, the family of the deceased approached the police and identified the body.
No clues
The police could not make much headway about the murder as there were no clues. However, they checked the calls the deceased had made on the night of November 6 on his cell phone and found that six calls had been made between 11 p.m. and 12 p.m. Immediately, the needle of suspicion pointed to one Mahendra Kaur Sharmila (35). The police kept a close surveillance on Sharmila's telephone and house and learnt about her illicit affair with Srinivas.
The police arrested Sharmila along with four others -- J. Anjaneyulu alias Anji (29), R. Nagaraju (22), Ch. Ramesh (24) and E. Devender (22). During the interrogation, it was revealed that Sharmila was also having an affair with Anjaneyulu, a friend of her husband. When Srinivas allegedly started harassing her , she informed the matter to Anjaneyulu and they decided to eliminate him.
They hatched a plan to kill him and sought the help of three other friends of Anjaneyulu. Anjaneyulu and his friends allegedly lay waiting for Srinivas near Sharmila's house. Meanwhile, Sharmila allegedly called Srinivas on his cell phone inviting him to her house.
Attacked with bats
When Srinivas proceeded to Sharmila's house, Anjaneyulu and others attacked him with baseball bats and chilli powder and later strangulated him. They dumped the body on the outskirts, doused it with petrol and set it ablaze.
