Daylight robbery at Tappachabutra

Staff Reporter

Housewife relieved of 23 tolas of gold

HYDERABAD : In a daylight robbery, two persons relieved a housewife of 23 tolas of gold at knifepoint after barging into her house at Shivabagh in Tappachabutra on Monday.

Vani, 30, was alone when the two knocked on the door. Her husband Yadagiri, an architect, was away in office at Himayathnagar. When she came out, the duo asked her if the labourers who built the overhead water tank were available.

Later they enquired whether her husband was inside. While she was closing the door saying he went to office, they asked for drinking water. When she went inside, the offenders entered into the house and shut the door.

One of them put a knife at her throat threatening to kill her if she raised alarm. Later, they took away jewellery from almirah.

The police suspect they are familiar with the area topography and must have known that the housewife would be alone in the house at that time. CLUES team, fingerprint experts and sniffer dogs were pressed into service.
