NEW DELHI: Shu Saito of Japan upset the second-seeded Mansingh Athare 6-4, 6-1 in the pre-quarterfinals of the Asian under-14 tennis championship at the DLTA Complex here on Tuesday. The third ranked Asian in the age group, Mansingh can still make it to the Australian circuit if he figures in the top eight in the final rankings tabulated after the current championship. The top seed Ronak Manuja, fifth-seeded Sameer Paranjape and sixth seed Sudanwa Sitaram along with Prateek Bhambri were the other Indians to make the last eight stage. The second-seeded Adnya Naik, the Asian No. 3, virtually assured herself of a berth in the team for the Australian circuit by making the last eight. None of the other Indian girls in the fray sixth-seeded Garima Vatwani, eighth-seeded Mehak and Aarzoo Malik can aspire for the Australian trip as they do not have an Asian ranking.
