Staff Reporter

Remuneration could range from 75-100 pc of full-time pay

CHENNAI: Come December 2, and women seeking short-term contractual jobs at the managerial level will have a web portal to assist them in their search.

The portal, Avtar's I-Win, to be launched by Avtar Career Creators, is targeted at companies seeking such `interim women managers' to enable women with professional experience choose assignments suited to their lifestyles. Attrition rates are high in the brave new world of knowledge economy, pointed out Saundarya Rajesh, chief executive, Avtar Career Creators, at a press meet.

Someone who does not have to deal with corporate politics and can quit after the fixed period may better perform stressful jobs like those of customer care executives, she said. The employer, besides not having to bother with expenses like Provident Fund, will have the assurance that people on short-term assignments will perform with higher efficiency.

Women professionals with C.A., M.B.A., M.C.A. or B.Tech qualifications with managerial experience, who may have given up their jobs after marriage or are looking for a job that will allow them to choose the period of work, will be suited for the post of the contractual managerial employee. She would ideally have experience in the information technology, banking, telecommunication or services industries.

"At a conservative estimate, there are at least 5000-8000 women in Chennai who would be potential candidates," Ms. Rajesh said. Remuneration could range from 75-100 per cent of the pay for a comparative full time job.
