PUDUKOTTAI: V.N.C. Nagu Chidambaram, a young industrialist from Pudukottai, who recently won the `National Award for the Entrepreneur of the Year' for medium-scale industries, was felicitated at a function organised jointly by the Pudukottai Nagarathar Sangam, Nagarathar Ilaignar Sangam and Nagarathar Mahalir Sangam here recently. Mr. Nagu Chidambaram, Managing Director of Sun Industries, Chennai, involved in the manufacture of automobile spare parts for both domestic and export market, received the award from the President, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, at a function held at New Delhi recently. The Union Minister of State for Home, S. Regupathi, who was the chief guest, said Mr. Nagu Chidambaram, by his hard and committed work, has proved that in this competitive world, youths could achieve anything with total commitment. He is a role model to the present day younger generation, the Minister said and called upon the youths to shun inhibitions.
Single-minded
The president of the Ilakkiya Peravai, Muthu Srinivasan, said the Sun Industries, which was started eight years ago with just four employees has grown in leaps and bounds, thanks to a single-minded devotion of Mr. Nagu Chidambaram, and at present it provided employment to more than 300 persons. The automobile spare parts manufactured here have won recognition in the world market, he added. The Principal of the Chettinad Arts and Science College, Pazha Muthappan, said it was the enormous self-confidence possessed by Mr. Chidambaram which enabled him to rise to such a level. The president of Nagarathar Sangam, N.N.Vairavan Chettiar, in his address said, by winning the national award, Mr. Nagu Chidambaram has brought laurels to the entire State. The former Thakkar of the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and father of the award winning entrepreneur, V.N. Chidambaram, C. Valliappan, C. Ganesh and the president of Nagarathar Ilaignar Sangam, Pazha Pasupathi, the secretary of the Nagarathar Sangam, A. Arunachalam, also spoke. The executive committee member of the Nagarathar Sangam, S. Ramaswamy, introduced the award winner. Replying to the felicitations, Mr. Nagu Chidambaram recalled the role played by his parents in motivating him and building self-confidence in him. On behalf of the Nagarathar Sangam, a shield was presented to Mr. Nagu Chidambaram. The residents of Rangiyam, the native place of Mr. Nagu Chidambaram, also honoured him on the occasion.
