TIRUPATI: With barely one day to go for the inauguration of the national conference on the university-industry-community interaction by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Sri Venkateswara University, which is organising the meet, is humming with activity. Besides Vice-Chancellors of all the State and central universities located in Andhra Pradesh, leading industrialists like K. Anji Reddy of Dr. Reddy's Lab, Sudha Narayana Murthy of Infosys Foundation, Kiran Karthik from NASSCOM, Ramalinga Raju of Sathyam Computers, Galla Ramachandra Naidu (Amara Raja Group of Industries) and K. Varaprasada Reddy of Shanta Biotech also are expected to participate in the two-day summit. According to SVU Vice-Chancellor S. Jayarama Reddy, the conference seeks provide a common platform for academicians, industrialists, administrators, elected representatives and elite public to interact and address their common problems and come out with mutually beneficial solutions. The meeting will focus on areas of social development, the V-C said. Another concept behind the whole initiative was to evolve a system wherein these sections could share their resources, infrastructure, knowledge and open new vistas in `cross-disciplinary fields'. The second day of the meet is divided into three sessions covering invited speeches, brain storming session and the valedictory besides interaction among participants. The meet is also expected to hammer-out an action plan for the partners in the endeavour besides drafting possible joint ventures between the groups to bridge the gap between the campus and industry.
APSCHE meet
The Chairman and members of the State Council of Higher Education will also have a session on December 1 in the V-C's chamber after the inaugural session of the campus-industry interface. Council Chairman K.C. Reddy will chair the session.
Cattle show:
Another major programme arranged for the Chief Minister during his snap-trip is the inauguration of a massive cattle show in which nearly 400 bovines of different breeds from the four southern states and Pondicherry and Maharashtra will be on display. The show is aimed at inducing farmers to go for exotic breeds to achieve higher milk yield. Technical session, awareness programme, a calves show, competitions for the best participating bovine are other events to be held. Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Nissar Hussain, is camping here along with his team supervising arrangements for the show.
