Srikakulam: Minister for Revenue and Relief Dharmana Prasada Rao on Monday said that Rs.700 crores would be spent on the welfare of youth which included provision of employment opportunities.
Exchange programme
Speaking to a group of youths who came on a visit to Srikakulam district from Nizamabad as part of youth exchange programme, at his chamber here, Mr.Prasada Rao said the Government was giving top priority for welfare of youth to whom the future belonged. No other State in the country had allotted such a huge amount for the welfare of youth, Mr.Prasada Rao said. While the budget allocation was Rs.100 crores, the remaining amount would be mobilised from financial institutions. The Minister, who is also incharge of Youth Services, disclosed that plans were being formulated to send batches of youth to other States and countries as part of youth exchange programme. This would help youth understand other people, their customs and traditions better, the Minister observed. Training would be given to youth to face competitive examinations and face interviews for recruitment of various jobs by private firms. For various reasons some youths stook to the gun. In a country like India, power could not come through the barrel of the gun. The need of the hour was discipline and hard work, he said.
