Students' act of kindness

GUNTUR: Students of St. Luke's Public School in Guntur have raised Rs. 21,000 to contribute towards the surgery expenditure of Bikki Swathika Manogna, a student of sixth standard hailing from Pittambanda village of Vinukonda mandal in Guntur district.

Manogna was a bright student, but was suffering from a rare heart complication. The doctors said that they have to perform a complicated surgery lasting between 12 to 18 hours. The surgery cost about Rs. 3 lakhs and the girl's father Hanumantha Rao is a schoolteacher in a remote place, said Andhra Pradesh Tutorials and Convent Association president Gogineni Venkateshwara Rao.

Enthused by the students' gesture, the Guntur city branch of Andhra Pradesh Tutorials and Convent Association has added another Rs. 21,000 to the amount to be handed over to the girl's parents.
