Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Trust (Madras) and the Bihar Association conducted various competitions to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India.

A large number of school and college students participated in the competitions held at Rajendra Babu Bhavan, Gopalapuram, on Sunday.

In the oratorical contest, the schoolchildren spoke on the given topic: "What must students learn from Babu's [Dr. Rajendra Prasad] life?" The college students elaborated the importance of Babu's simplicity.

The programmes are conducted every year to inculcate the feeling of nationalism among students and help them to learn about patriots including Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

The winners will be given prizes at a function on December 3. Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner R. Nataraj will be the chief guest.
